Subject: USDOT TIGER V Discretionary Grant-Regional Coordination

Good Morning Everyone,

The USDOT has released the Notice of Funding Availability (NOFA) for Fiscal Year 2014 Transportation Investment Generating Economic Recovery (TIGER) Discretionary Grants (http://www.dot.gov/tiger).  This year $600 million is made available to fund transportation projects.  In additional to supporting capital grants, up to $35 million is available for planning grants (the first time since the 2010 round). Applications are due on April 28, 2014.  A pre-application is not required this go around. A copy of the NOFA and a Fact Sheet are attached to this email for your reference.

We would like to once again coordinate regionally for this discretionary grant opportunity.  Partnership within our region is critical to successfully garner these funds for our collective priorities here in Central Florida. Working together, we can better strategize which projects to pursue, and which agencies would be ideal to pursue each of the grant opportunities.  In previous years our region was quite successful with the discretionary grants due to our collective efforts. Together we can once again help each other to ensure the success of our efforts.

We will schedule a meeting between our partners on Thursday of this week. The primary purpose of the meeting is to generate a preliminary list of projects that different agencies are considering pursuing this year. We will also provide you with information on the program. It will be an online meeting, but you are also welcome to join us in person at the HDR Offices in downtown Orlando.  We will send out a calendar invite later today with the specifics.

I look forward to discussing this more with you on Thursday. If you should have any questions in the meantime, please feel free to contact me at 386-943-5398 or Vickie Wyche at 386-943-5185.

The two links below will provide you with the USDOT Web page for TIGER grants and the Notice of Funding Availability:

Thank you.
