.
The USDOT has released the Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) for FY 2019 BUILD (Better Utilizing Investments to Leverage Development) Discretionary Grants. This year $900 Million is made available to fund transportation projects.

Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) is excited to submit an application for the FY 2019 BUILD Discretionary Grant in order to support the development of safety improvements along a key segment of State Road 60 (S.R. 60) in Osceola County. S.R. 60 is a major freight corridor connecting several logistical centers and activity generators for the region. The project corridor is from 260-ft west of Three Lakes WMA Road to 1.1 miles east of Peavine Road in Osceola County (near Yeehaw Junction).

Improvements to this segment include:

  • Pair of Passing Lanes (EB & WB)
  • Rumble strips (audible/vibratory treatments) on road edges and at the centerline
  • Updated signing & pavement markings
  • Wide shoulders to accommodate trucks
  • Lighting at key intersections
  • Drainage improvements

This project has garnered strong partnerships from around the region including public agencies, private enterprise, and elected officials. Partners, collaborators, and stakeholders from FDOT are in agreement that the S.R. 60 Passing Lanes project is a top priority and is crucial to the health of mobility along this growing corridor.
