About Us
CFGIS is a program of the East Central Florida Regional Planning Council and is serving Central Florida since 2001. The CFGIS coverage consists of 10 counties: Brevard, Flagler, Lake, Marion, Polk, Orange, Osceola, Seminole, Sumter and Volusia counties.
CFGIS's Vision is to coordinate, integrate and support the Central Florida GIS community.
Our Mission is to provide a cooperative environment for GIS professionals and data users, promote communication and data sharing, regional data development, and provide spatial applications to programs throughout the Central Florida area.
There are two CFGIS program Working Groups: the Outreach and Best Practices Working Groups. Committee meetings are open to the public and are generally held at the ECFRPC offices.

Working Groups

Outreach Working Group
The primary function of the Outreach Working Group is to provide support to the ECFRPC in the preparation of quarterly CFGISUG meetings and newsletter publishing. The Outreach Working Group meets to accomplish the following tasks such as:
- Brainstorm new ideas
- Selecting topic(s)
- Securing meeting locations
- Booking speakers / presentation
- Selecting articles for publication
- Issuing calls for papers / articles
- Preparing meeting announcements
- Education

Best Practices Working Group
The primary function of the Best Practices Working Group is to offer technical expertise as needed to the ECFRPC. Participation in the working group is open to any person involved with Geographic Information Systems or interested in furthering the goals of the CFGIS Program. Tasks undertaken by this group includes:
- Topic discussions
- Developing data and model guidelines that can benefit the region
- Reviewing the results of existing work efforts

Calls for volunteers are normally announced during CFGIS Users Group meetings, CFGIS website and e-mails.If you wish to join a committee, please call (407) 262-7RPC x312 or email CFGIS beforehand to verify the meeting date, time, and location. Meeting dates are also displayed in the website Calendar.
